Looking at the layout of the photo regarding the HKS SQV Blow off valve, I have to say that's a "No No" way to install a blow off valve on a 1.8T. Very inefficient, and could cause problem.
Blow off valve on a 1.8T engine should always be "return to circuit" seting, instead of blow into atmosphere setting (such as HKS SQV). The air flow mass sensor would not pick up right air flow and the ECU will calculate wrong air-fuel mixture. And, the engine in the Blow to Atmophere setting will sometimes be stall. If some one really want to install the HKS SQV on a VAG's 1.8T, additional modification is needed. But, it's not easy to tune to a ideal condition. I would not suggest to do as the link suggested.
