2.2 liter 4 banger 16 valve turbo diesel engine. To achieve it’s high efficiency while maintaining performance attributes, the engine features Mitsubishi’s MIVEC that offers constant variable valve timing control. The small liter engine is capable of producing just over 200 horsepower, but an amazing 300 ft lb of torque.
Apparently, AMG had nothing to do with this, as they are busy developing the new A25 AMG hot hatch. So a couple of technicians fitted the 383 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque 5.5 liter V8 you find in Merc’s big saloons under the small bonnet of the B-Class. But that’s not the end of it as they also turned the car into a rear-wheel-drive and hooked up the engine with an MCT 7-speed transmission.
Other modificaitons include a rear axle from the ancient E430 Wagon and brakes from the equally old C32 AMG, plus 18-inch wheels wrapped with some fat tires.
The result of all that is, well, bonkers but very interesting! It does 0 to 100 km/h in slightly over 5 seconds, and it has the potential to reach 300 km/h top speed. Unfortunately there will never be a V8-powered hatchback, specially in this day and age.
■Reinforcement of the cross member in front-suspensions offers a linear steering response. ■Rear LSD (Limited Slip Differential) system was changed to a mechanical type from a Torsen type to obtain the steady and powerful traction during cornering. ■Bridgestone “POTENZA RE070” (245/40R18) were adopted to enhance cornering ability and higher grip performance, especially in dry conditions. ■Nimble handling with a firm steering feel is assured by increasing oil flow volume in the power steering system.
BMW is preparing a raft of new technology that will enable its future models to react "intelligently" with local road conditions to allow greater fuel-efficiency and improve safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
This new philosophy is described by BMW as "Connected Drive meets Efficient Dynamics." The German car manufacturer expects to roll out the technology over the next few years in the new 2013 BMW 3 Series and 2012 6 Series.
Subaru’s own advanced driving-assist EyeSight system is installed along the front edge of the roof. The images the camera takes can be viewed on a monitor in the center of the gauge cluster, positioned for easy visibility. EyeSight is also networked with the latest in collision-prevention technology, underscoring the safety that customers expect from Subaru.
The combination of the 2.0-liter naturally aspirated Boxer engine with a Lineartronic™ Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) represents Subaru’s next-generation powertrain.
Ahead of its planned debut at the LA Auto Show next week, Mitsubishi has released photos and details of it’s U.S.-spec i-MiEV electric car. Normally there’s little differentiation between a U.S.-spec model and one from the brand’s domestic market, but in this case the tiny i-MiEV has been widened to meet the needs of U.S. customers.
The car itself is 285mm (11.2-in.) longer at 3,680mm, it’s wider by 110mm (4.3-in.) at 1,585mm and also higher by 5mm for a total of 1,615mm. The front and rear track are also a total of 110mm (4.3-in.) wider. To a give a sense of perspective that’s roughly three feet longer than a Smart fortwo and about a foot shorter than the Honda Fit.
The U.S.-Spec i-Miev is expected to get the same battery pack and electric motor with a total of 63-hp and 133 ft-lbs of torque.

Mitsubishi Motors’ North American Version of i-MiEV to Make World Premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show
Tokyo, November 9, 2010 – Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will host the world premiere of the North American version of its i-MiEV new-generation electric vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show (LAAS) held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from Wednesday, November 17 to Sunday November 28 (open to the general public from Friday, November 19). In addition, the Outlander Sport compact CUV (RVR in Japan, ASX in Europe), which is to go on sale in the North American market from the end of this year as well as other core vehicles for the North American market are planned for display at the LAAS.
The North American version of the i-MiEV, in comparison to the Japanese- and European-spec i-MiEVs, features an enhanced, enlarged body structure to secure plenty of space for four adults and better meet the expectations of U.S. consumers. In addition, the North American-spec i-MiEV’s front and rear bumpers are all-new. Airbags that detect passengers and control deployment force, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and Active Stability Control (ASC) are all standard equipment.
Also, with the Outlander Sport’s mating of a 2.0-liter MIVEC*1 engine to an INVECS*2Ⅲ-CVT Sportronic (six-speed sport-mode CVT) transmission (five-speed manual transmission also available on some trim levels), the Outlander Sport provides superior fuel efficiency and low emissions in a compact CUV package that can seat five.
